Loic Remy to complete Newcastle move

14 January 2013 - 05:33

French international striker Loic Remy will complete a move from French giants Marseille to Newcastle. The Toon have had an offer of £8.6 million accepted by the French side, and the player is believed to have already agreed personal terms with the Premier League side.

  • Mauricio Pochettino confirms fresh injury blow for Chelsea star
  • Arsenal want to make four marquee signings this summer

  • Remy has been long linked with a move to England; with the likes of Arsenal, Queens Park Rangers and at one time Liverpool linked with his signature. Remy has struggled this year at Marseille, but Newcastle's manager Alan Pardew is eager to find a suitable replacement for Demba Ba, who joined Chelsea earlier in the January transfer window for around £7.5 million.

Marseille's club president confirmed that terms for the transfer have already been agreed: “We have an agreement with Newcastle for the transfer of Remy. Loic can negotiate with them.”

Loic Remy has been taking advice from Joey Barton, who is currently on loan at the Stade Velodrome from QPR.

Barton tweeted: "Good luck to Loic in Newcastle. Don't worry I've told him what to expect. Great guy. Perfect club for him. #toonarmy"
