Danny Welbeck has been linked with a surprise loan return to Sunderland until the end of the season. The England international is currently fourth choice striker at Old Trafford; leaving Welbeck frustrated with his perceived lack of first team opportunity.
Welbeck enjoyed a successful loan spell at the Stadium of Light in the 2010-2011 Premier League season; he then returned to Man Utd and would go on to become an important member of the first team. However, the arrival of Robin van Persie - along with the Dutchman's rich vein of form - has seen Welbeck's opportunities rather limited at United.<br />
Sunderland chief Martin O'Neill has made a last ditch effort to sign Welbeck on loan until the end of the year and Sir Alex Ferguson is weighing up his offer.
