Barcelona chase Chelsea's David Luiz

Barcelona have made Chelsea defender David Luiz their primary transfer target this summer. The centre back is valued by the Blues at around £39 million, and according to reports Roman Abramovich would prefer to keep the defender.

Barca are scouring Europe for a long term replacement for Carles Puyol, who is expected to retire at the end of the coming season. The Catalan side see Luiz as a perfect replacement for him and the ideal partner at the heart of Barca's defence alongside Gerard Pique.<br />

There are reports that Jose Mourinho - who is expected to rejoin former club Chelsea - may not keep Luiz at the club, and so the likes of Barcelona and Real Madrid are going to make a move.
