Matic Eliminates Any Chances of Chelsea Comeback

13 June 2013 - 13:39

Earlier this month, reports from the Chelsea FC suggested that Jose Mourinho has his eyes set upon the Serbian midfielder, Nemanja Matic, who switched to Benfica in January 2011, as a make-weight in the transfer exchange deal that involved David Luiz on the other end. Ironically enough, Mourinho looked to fund this transfer by selling Luiz to Barcelona.

  • Well, Matic seems to have saved Mourinho from going through all the hassles as he ruled out any and all chances of his Chelsea return, for atleast another season. He openly expressed his desire to stay with the Portuguese club claiming that he had some unfinished business to take care of.

"Of course, someone like Jose Mourinho wanting me to go back to London would be an opportunity to prove that I can play in the Premier League, but I want to achieve more at Benfica, particularly in the big games " - Nemanja Matic

Looks like the English club will have to wait yet another year to reach some agreement with Matic, who has been quite impressive in the Portuguese club outfit.
