Sunderland goalkeeper Simon Mignolet is on the cusp of completing a transfer to Liverpool. The shot stopper is heading to Anfield next week to discuss personal terms.

The impressive Mignolet has been linked with a move away from the Stadium of Light for several weeks, but the Black Cats have been insistent that no transfer bid was yet made.



However we understand that a bid from Liverpool has been accepted and the player is now free to talk with them.



Liverpool's current number 1, Pepe Reina, has been linked with Barcelona.
