Barcelona Set Eyes on Laurent Koscielny

Barcelona Set Eyes on Laurent Koscielny

16 June 2013 - 07:00

Fresh reports from the Nou Camp are set to unsettle the Gunners, if there is enough truth to the rumours. Reports suggest Barca's fresh and keen interest in Arsenal's center-back Laurent Koscielny.

  • Arsenal to swap Gabriel Jesus for Inter Milan star?
  • Arsenal leading race to sign Belgian midfielder

  • The 27 year old defender moved to Arsenal in July 2010 following an 8.4 million pounds deal. Since then Koscielny has gone on to be the most reliable and sturdy defender for the Gunners.

He along with Per Mertesacker forms the defensive backbone of Arsene Wenger's prospective team this season. He played a significant role in helping Arsenal secure themselves in the top 4 spot last season.

Barcelona, on the other hand not only have a strong attacking division but also a very supportive mid-field. Defence is where things need to be utterly improved for Barca to bounce back in the European football next season.

With the presence of Carles Puyoul and Pique, who made his intention of staying at the club very clear, and Javier Mascherano as an option, Barcelona may need just one more quality back, Koscielny just fitting the bills.

The history of football transfers is a testimonial to the Arsenal players' interest in the Spanish champions. Thiery Henry, Cesc Fabregas and Alex Song, to name a few.

Even though Arsene Wenger has made it very clear that he won't sell any of his top guns this summer but that simply doesn't mean Barcelona will give up on their efforts.
