Rijkaard: Henry is adjusting

Rijkaard: Henry is adjusting

28 October 2007 - 09:01

Thierry Henry has received the backing of Dutch coach Frank Rijkaard who has insisted that the Frenchman is still learning and adapting to Barcelona's style of play after 9 years at Arsenal.

  • Arsenal & Chelsea want Junior Kroupi
  • Chelsea keen on signing Newcastle United winger
  • He said: "Henry continues to work and continues to act with common sense and a sense for the team. Barcelona is used to playing against teams that have nine or ten players behind the ball and less space. This is why our game is about position and touch.

"Most players aren't used to playing like that, rather they take advantage of the space and harm the opponent that way. We have more passing combinations and this can also affect Henry."

Rijkaard added: "Henry doesn't deserve criticism. Everyone needs to improve, not just one player. His movement is good, but his teammates aren't always aware of it."
