Arsenal's move for Higuain in some doubt

29 June 2013 - 09:07

Doubt has been cast on Arsenal's potential transfer move for Gonzalo Higuain. The Argentina international striker has been chased by the Gunners and Juventus this summer, now it appears that Borussia Dortmund could also be interested in the Real Madrid forward. However, according to reports, Arsenal are not prepared to match Higuain's salary request.

  • The Gunners were planning a busy summer of signings and have already seen the likes of Andrey Arshavin depart the club; but talk of a move for Argentine forward Gonzalo Higuain excited Arsenal fans all over the world as it appeared that Arsene Wenger would be finally looking to replace Robin van Persie.

However, reports indicate that despite the Arsenal target's interest in moving to London, personal terms could be a potential stumbling block to a deal.

At Real Madrid, Higuain reportedly earns around 130,000 Euros per week. The Gunners are prepared to match that offer but Higuain himself is hoping for more. The player is also asking for a large signing on fee but is prepared to waive some of the amount if a deal can be agreed in the next two weeks.

The Gunners are desperate to sign Higuain, but there remains some concern that the new interest from last year's Champions League finalists Borussia Dortmund could persuade Higuain into making a move to Germany instead.
