Jermain Defoe is linked with a move to the Britannia Stadium, as the new Stoke manager Mark Hughes wants to reunite the England striker with Peter Crouch.
Tottenham are willing to allow the striker an exit from the White Hart Lane if a club comes and offers a fee of around £6m.
The 30-year-old England International knows that he will be down the pecking order at North London club, if spurs complete the signing of one of their major targets.
Defoe has two years left on his £65,000-a-week contract, though, so the Potters would have to make him their highest-paid player to make the move stick.
Mark Hughes believes Defoe would be the perfect compatriot for Crouch, as the new manager tries to form a team which would suit his tactical measures.
