09 July 2013 - 13:55

Manchester City midfielder Gareth Barry is preparing for a switch to North London side Arsenal, as Arsene Wenger is ready to offer him a good number of first team games to prove what he is still made of. The manager is willing to offer a one year deal for the former Aston Villa star.

 • Fabrizio Romano updates on Nicolas Jackson's future at Chelsea
 • Arsenal suffer big injury blow ahead of Fulham game
 • Barry is reportedly unsettled at Manchester City following the signing of Fernandinho and fears of being pushed down the pecking order of the squad by the Manchester City's new manager Manuel Pelligrini.

As per reports in England, it seems the former Aston Villa captain will definitely not be a worry for Pelligrini much longer with the Emirates club all set to sign the England international on a £75,000 a week contract.

The deal is a downgrade on his current £100,000 a week deal at Manchester City, the English midfielder is keen on making a more regular number of games this upcoming season as he seeks to be in contention for a place in Roy Hodgson’s squad for the World Cup next year in Brazil.
Gareth Barry has so far made 175 appearances for the Citizens and under Mancini, he played a critical role in the holding midfield position playing at least 30 league games every season.

Arsenal's lack of a holding midfielder may entice Wenger in sealing the deal for the England International.
