Liverpool show interest in Martin Montoya

Premier League side Liverpool are ready to step up interest on the Barca younster Martin Montoya. The defender is tipped to move to the Premier League and the Reds look favourites for the moment to capture his signature.

  • The 22-year-old who developed into a star from La Liga giants Barcelona's famous La Masia academy, is out of contract next June. The Catalans want the youngster to prove himself by challenging Dani Alves for a starting spot and are willing to offer him a new contract.



    The right-back has notched up 15 appearances for the Catalan side last term and was closely monitored by Bundesliga side Bayer Leverkusen,who are searching for a replacement for Dani Carvajal. Montoya took a part in Spain Under 21's Championship winning squad in Israel where he made 4 appearances including the 4-2 triumph over Italy in the final.
