Manchester United are the newest side to have shown an interest in Roma defender Marquinhos. The 19-year-old, who is comfortable playing at right back or at centre back, impressed since joining Roma from Corinthians last year.

  • Mikel Arteta insists 27yo star won't be leaving Arsenal
  • Omari Hutchinson wants to continue at Ipswich Town

  • The young Brazilian is also being monitored by Barcelona, who have yet to make a proper move into the transfer market this summer. The defender is valued by the Italian club at approximately 8 million Euros.

At Roma, Marquinhos as generally been deployed as a centre back, and that is apparently where David Moyes sees Marquinhos' future at Man Utd as well. The Red Devils have been scouring Europe for a long term successor to Nemanja Vidic and Rio Ferdinand, who are both likely to play less of a role in United's first team this coming season.
