Man Utd reject Chelsea bid for Wayne Rooney

Manchester United have rejected a transfer offer from Chelsea for England striker Wayne Rooney. The forward is unhappy at Old Trafford having fallen down the pecking order behind Robin van Persie as first choice striker at Man Utd.

It is understood that the offer for Rooney fell some way short of what United value the striker.<br />

Rooney told reporters that recent events have left him "angry and confused" and he has yet to submit a transfer request to David Moyes.<br />

"Chelsea Football Club can confirm that yesterday it made a written offer to Manchester United for the transfer of Wayne Rooney," said a statement on Chelsea's website yesterday.<br />

"Although the terms of the offer are confidential, for avoidance of doubt and contrary to what is currently being briefed to the press in Sydney, the proposed purchase price does not include the transfer or loan of any players from Chelsea to Manchester United." &nbsp;
