Juan Mata And David Luiz Not For Sale

Juan Mata And David Luiz Not For Sale

19 July 2013 - 16:54

The Stamford Bridge officials were quick to dismiss the rumour that claimed either of Juan Mata and David Luiz could be used as a makeweight in a deal to land Manchester United’s Wayne Rooney.

  • Chelsea ready to sell four home-grown players
  • Predicted Chelsea line-up (4-2-3-1) vs Aston Villa, Palmer starts

  • The Chelsea manager, Jose Mourinho, has already stressed that the pair is important for the club’s plans and he does not intend to sell them. He feels that there’s no need to reassure either of the players about their position in the team only due to some rumours.

Earlier a few media reports suggested that Chelsea were willing to use Juan Mata or David Luiz as a makeweight in their £20m offer for Wayne Rooney. But Chelsea moved quickly to rule out these speculations, although their bid was instantly rejected by United.

The concerned Chelsea players are on an extended holiday, after their Confederations Cup campaign.

"I spoke with them during the summer, in my period of holiday and their period of the Confederations Cup, yes", said Mourinho.

"I am not going to contact them based on news that are not true, and that they know that is not true because I have told them they are very important for me. How can I change that two days later because of a news [story]? So no, no contact with them."
