The Gunners could return with an improved bid for the Real Madrid striker Gonzalo Higuain, following Napoli’s decision to drop out of contention for the coveted striker.
According to the Daily Mail, Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger could place another offer for the Argentine striker after Napoli’s reluctance to meet his release clause of £35millions.
Although Napoli have enough funds to trigger the release clause of the 25-year-old and coach Rafa Benitez is known to be his admirer, the club is not prepared to meet Real’s valuation of the player. This has given another hope for Arsenal fans, who have been expecting Higuain to make a switch to the Emirates for long now.
Arsene Wenger is looking to bolster his team’s attacking division ahead of the coming season. Disillusioned by Higuain’s case, he has lately shifted focus on Luis Suarez and Wayne Rooney. In fact, last week Arsenal also saw their initial £30m bid for Suarez rejected, but it is being speculated that Wenger will jump back with another offer close to £40m.
Wenger will also hope that Real Madrid will reconsider their valuation of Higuain, following Napoli’s reluctance to match his buy-out clause. It will be interesting to see how Wenger reacts to this opportunity, even more when he is already chasing two marquee strikers from the Premier League.
