Arsenal set to miss out on Gonzalo Higuain?

22 July 2013 - 00:13

The Gunners are set to miss out on the signing of Real Madrid striker Gonzalo Higuain as Serie A side Napoli have come up with an agreement with Real Madrid over a transfer fee to acquire the services of the Argentine forward according to the Metro.

Following Arsenal's continued pursuit of the La Liga striker, Real Madrid made an increase in their asking price for Higuain to £35m as interest from elsewhere in the form of Napoli rose up. This has now led to the Gunners retreating from their pursuit of the coveted star striker.

  • However, reports from other sources suggest that Chelsea’s new manager Jose Mourinho is also having a look at the player, but is unwilling to dish out more than £25m for the star.Napoli have acquired the deal though by reportedly snaring Higuain for £30m ,with only personal terms remaining to be solved out.

Napoli have a transfer budget of £108 million at their disposal following the sale of Edinson Cavani to Paris Saint-Germain.

Arsenal's manager Arsene Wenger will now have to look elsewhere to fulfill his ambitions of having a highly rated front man at the Emirates this summer.
