Arsenal set to miss out on Gonzalo Higuain?

The Gunners are set to miss out on the signing of Real Madrid striker Gonzalo Higuain as Serie A side Napoli have come up with an agreement with Real Madrid over a transfer fee to acquire the services of the Argentine forward according to the Metro. <br /><br />Following Arsenal's continued pursuit of the La Liga striker, Real Madrid made an increase in their asking price for Higuain to £35m as interest from elsewhere in the form of Napoli rose up. This has now led to the Gunners retreating from their pursuit of the coveted star striker.

  • However, reports from other sources suggest that Chelsea’s new manager Jose Mourinho is also having a look at the player, but is unwilling to dish out more than £25m for the star.Napoli have acquired the deal though by reportedly snaring Higuain for £30m ,with only personal terms remaining to be solved out.<br /><br />Napoli have a transfer budget of £108 million at their disposal following the sale of Edinson Cavani to Paris Saint-Germain. <br /><br />Arsenal's manager Arsene Wenger will now have to look elsewhere to fulfill his ambitions of having a highly rated front man at the Emirates this summer.
