Arsenal manager Wenger denies Bernard deal close

French newspaper L'Equipe reported that Atlético Mineiro have accepted a £21m bid from the Gunners for Bernard, but Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has denied talk of a move for the player.

  • Bernard Anício Caldeira Duarte who is commonly known as Bernard was rumoured to have had a medical in North London on Friday. The youngster has already featured for the Brazilian National team during the FIFA Confederations Cup held in June.  <br />

    His performances alongside fellow teammate Ronaldinho has enlightened up large amounts of interest from the likes of Tottenham Hotspur, Shaktar Donetsk and FC Porto.<br /><br />The youngster is still plying his trade for Atlético Mineiro at the Copa Libertadores and will play his last game for the Brazilian side on Wednesday against Olimpia Asuncion.<br/><br/>

    However, Arsenal manager has insisted that no deal will be completed and said after a 3-1 against Nagoya Grampus Eight: "That report is not true."
