Newcastle's major transfer target Bafetimbi Gomis has been sent to play with the Lyon reserves, as the French international striker pushes Lyon to the brink to help him secure a transfer move to the Premier League.
The Toon Army's director of football Joe Kinnear has been busy trying to find a new striker for Alan Pardew's side; with moves for Aston Villa forward Darren Bent and also Gomis of Lyon on Kinnear's list of priorities.
However, Gomis appears to be the first choice fo Newcastle manager Alan Pardew, who is eager to find a suitable replacement for Demba Ba who quit St James' Park in the January transfer window.
Lyon and Newcastle appear to be some way off with regards to agreeing a fee for Gomis, subsequently the forward has been sent to the reserves with the forward telling the club he has no plans to play for the French giants ever again.
