Napoli Chasing Alexis Sanchez

29 July 2013 - 18:25

Amid widespread reports linking Napoli with their prime target Jackson Martinez, the club is reportedly looking to place a bid for Barcelona winger Alexis Sanchez.

  • Arsenal to swap Gabriel Jesus for Inter Milan star?
  • Arsenal leading race to sign Belgian midfielder

  • According to Gazzetta dello Sport, the Serie A outfit have turned their attention to the 24-year-old after their move for Jackson Martinez failed to materialize as Porto are demanding a whopping sum of €40 million for the forward.

Napoli are looking to spend heavily on reinforcements this summer as they have already acquired the services of Raul Albiol, Jose Callejon and Gonzalo Higuain. Owner Aurelio De Laurentiis has promised to reinvest the €64 million, they earned from Edinson Cavani’s sale to PSG, in revamping the squad.

The Chile international has also played for the Italian outfit Udinese, where he managed to net 12 goals in 31 league games, before leaving for the Camp Nou side, where he hasn’t been very impressive. Sanchez made only 18 starts in La Liga last season.

Napoli would hope that the player would be willing to return to Italy in the hopes of more playing minutes. At this stage, it is not clear how much the club is willing to pay for him.
