Hughton: spending big this summer

Norwich City to continue transfer spending

30 July 2013 - 07:14

Norwich City manager Chris Hughton will continue to spend money on new players this summer, despite being one of the Premier League's most active teams in the market. The Canaries are being linked with a move for another striker.

  • Chelsea & Arsenal handed blow in Bundesliga striker pursuit

  • Despite having completed moves for the likes of Ricky van Wolfswinkel, Leroy Fer and Gary Hooper, Norwich are still busy behind the scenes hoping to secure several more new players.

Fabio Quagliarella, the Italian international, is one name who has been repeatedly linked with a move to Carrow Road.

Hughton confirmed that Norwich are still evaluating their options: "We’re still weighing up all the options that we’ve got. Offensively it doesn’t necessarily mean it is just those central positions.

"But what you also have to remember is that we have lost players. We’ve lost Simeon Jackson and of course Grant (Holt) has gone.

"We have a responsibility to make this squad as strong and competitive as possible. We are still doing our work and our due diligence. If we do have that opportunity then we will look to take it."
