Tottenham Willing To Sell Bale If Morata Is Offered As Makeweight

01 August 2013 - 17:23

Real Madrid is hell-bent to lure Tottenham’s star Gareth Bale to Bernabeu but it’s the North London outfit’s chairman, Daniel Levy, who seems completely in control of the dealings. According to a report in Guardian, Levy is ready to sell Bale to the Liga giants but he wants young sensation Alvaro Morata as a makeweight in the deal.

  • Mikel Arteta insists 27yo star won't be leaving Arsenal
  • Omari Hutchinson wants to continue at Ipswich Town

  • Morata is one of the most highly rated youngsters in Spain, more so after winning the Golden Boot in Spain’s title winning campaign of the European U-21 Championship. He was partly the reason, coach Carlo Ancelotti allowed Gonzalo Higuain to leave the club since he trusted Morata with his potential to provide support for Karim Benzema.

The 20-year-old has scored four goals in five games for Spain’s U-21 team and has also netted two for Madrid’s senior side last season. Making him a part of the Bale-deal would increase the deal’s worth beyond the already proposed  £86m.

It would be interesting to see how Los Blancos reacts to Spurs’ new demand, although it would be a relief for them to note a positive response from the Premier League outfit. The Spanish giants have reportedly proposed the names of left-back Fabio Coentrao and winger Angel di Maria as the prospective makeweight for the deal.
