Suarez's Worth Equal To Bale's : Brendan Rodgers

04 August 2013 - 14:34

Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers insists that the controversial Uruguayan striker Luis Suarez is not going anywhere this summer. He surprisingly claims that the striker’s valuation is no less than that of Tottenham ace Gareth Bale.

  • Chelsea ready to sell four home-grown players
  • Predicted Chelsea line-up (4-2-3-1) vs Aston Villa, Palmer starts

  • Luis Suarez has become the number one priority for Arsene Wenger, who had his £40 million bid for the striker rejected last month. Spurs on the other hand are negotiating a deal valued more than £100 million, with Real Madrid for Gareth Bale.

Rodgers suggested that Suarez has been greatly under-valued, considering his stature in Premier League.

"Gareth Bale and Luis Suarez were arguably the two best players in the Premier League last season and you can't say Gareth Bale is valued at more than 100 percent more than Luis Suarez," Rodgers said.

"Of all the speculation and all the clubs he was supposed to be going to, we've had two bids from one club and that was nowhere near the valuation in the market for a top player.

The manager is also confident about Suarez’s stay at the club, despite repeatedly being linked with a move to rivals, Arsenal. He claimed that the striker was humbled by the rapturous reception the Liverpool fans gave him during his second half appearance against Olympiacos and expected him to respect the sentiments by not moving away from the club.

"It is a truly remarkable club and you don't want to leave one of the biggest clubs in the world in a hurry and I think he knows that."
