Chelsea star David Luiz to request Barcelona move?

10 August 2013 - 08:13

Chelsea's defender David Luiz has reportedly told club officials at Stamford Bridge that he wants to move to Barcelona. The Catalan club have made an offer of around 30 million Euros for Luiz; that offer has been rejected. However, Barca are confident they can sign the defender before the end of the transfer window.

  • Luiz, who is very highly rated at Chelsea by club owner Roman Abramovich and manager Jose Mourinho, has been told that he must stay at the Bridge and will be an important member of the first team this season.

However, a report in the Daily Mail suggests that Luiz will officially request a move to Spain and will even consider lodging a transfer request to secure a move.

Barcelona are expected to make a second offer of around 35 million Euros.

Chelsea manager Mourinho last week said of Barca's opening offer: "My advice to them is to go to the second player on their list because they are wasting their time. We don't want to lose our best players. No chance."
