Sunderland to loan Trabzonspor defender Celustka

11 August 2013 - 18:19

Premier League side Sunderland are believed to be on the verge of completing a season long loan deal with Trabzonspor defender Ondrej Celustka according to Sky sources.

  • Chelsea to move for former Arsenal goalkeeper?
  • Former Chelsea boss to replace Erik ten Hag at Man Utd?

  • Sunderland boss Paolo Di Canio has been trying to rejig the entire squad ahead of the start to the new season and have brought in as many as ten new players this summer.

The 24 year old defender moved to the Super Lig in 2011 and signed a five year contract. He has been a regular for the Turkish club since his move and it is surprising to see Trabzonspor let him leave the club on loan for an entire season.

The former Czech U 21 international has been inclined towards a move to the Premier League and has already turned down an offer from Super Lig rivals Antalyaspor.

Celustka was quoted by the Daily Star Sunday as saying: "Antalyaspor wanted me, but my goal is to play in England."
