Arsenal warned over Michu pursuit

Arsenal warned over Michu pursuit

16 August 2013 - 08:57

Arsenal have been warned that their pursuit of forward Michu is likely to fail unless they significantly up their offer for the Spaniard. The Gunners have turned to the Swansea striker after seemingly missing out on Luis Suarez's signature.

  • Chelsea expected to sell striker after loan deal
  • Arsenal defender misses training ahead of Man Utd game

  • Michu scored 22 league goals last year and surprised many with some stunning performances, scoring crucial goals against the likes of Arsenal last year. Arsene Wenger is reportedly weighing up a move for the forward.

Swansea manager Michael Laudrup said: “If you are not for sale, you are not for sale – and that’s at any price.

“I know it’s all like a game of poker but from my point of view, I don’t want Michu to leave for any amount in the world.

“I think Swansea is in a good financial position and I don’t think if they came in with a big bid very late the reaction would be any different.

“Even if the money is ridiculous, the response from the chairman would be ‘No’ because we would not have time enough to find a replacement. The other problem is that if you sell your best player so late and you can’t find a replacement, all you have is the money. So what?"
