Spanish midfielder Mikel Arteta is likely to miss at least a month of action after sustaining a tear in his thigh on Thursday morning. Arsene Wenger had hoped that Arteta's injury would only be a strain, but it appears to be much worse.
Arteta had been looking forward to the coming season at the Emirates and has been very vocal about the Gunners' pursuit of major transfers this summer.
The worst news came from Arsene Wenger this morning: "Yes, he has picked up a tear in his thigh."
Arteta is now likely to be replaced by Tomas Rosicky alongside Jack Wilshere and Aaron Ramsey.
