Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has admitted to being an admirer of Chelsea playmaker Juan Mata but remains unsure if Chelsea would be willing to sell him to their domestic rivals.

  • Omari Hutchinson wants to continue at Ipswich Town
  • Mikel Arteta insists 27yo star won't be leaving Arsenal

  • The future of the Spain midfielder has been the subject of intense speculation throughout this summer and has been tipped by many to be on his way out of Stamford Bridge.

The Blues' top performer from last season was left out of the squad which faced Manchester United at Old Trafford on Monday night leading to more speculation surrounding his future at the London club.

Even though manager Jose Mourinho has rubbished all rumors suggesting Mata's exit this transfer window, plenty of top clubs are lining up a bid for the Spaniard.

    "I like him," said Wenger.

"I watched the game last night and I've heard, like you, Juan Mata could be on the market.

"There is anyway in England a reluctance to sell to each other."

Atletico Madrid president Enrique Cerezo has also revealed his interest in the star midfielder to the Sun.

Cerezo was quoted as saying in The Sun: "Mata is a good player but he's playing in the Premier League and over there they pay a lot."
