Siqueira completes loan switch to Benfica

03 September 2013 - 15:37

Brazilian full back Guilhermo Siqueira has agreed to join Portuguese side Benfica on a season long loan deal after Real Madrid decided to drop their interest in the defender.

  • Predicted Chelsea line-up (4-2-3-1) vs Aston Villa, Palmer starts
  • Chelsea ready to sell four home-grown players

  • The Los Blancos were reported to be interested in the player's signature this summer with fabio Coentrao's departure seemingly imminent. However, the Portugal international has been retained by the club and rejected a late loan bid by Manchester United yesterday.

With Madrid holding on to Coentrao, it paved the way for Primera Liga side Benfica to push through a loan move for the South American footballer.

Benfica announced the signing of Siqueira in their official website. A statement read: "Benfica have secured Guilherme Siqueira on a one-year loan deal for the 2013-14 season.

"The Brazilian left-back, 27, arrives from Granada, where has played since 2011.

Before playing for Granada, Siqueira played for Avai, Ipatinga, Inter Milan, Lazio, Udinese and Ancona."
