Werder Bremen send Akpala on loan to Turkey

04 September 2013 - 18:35

Bundesliga side Werder Bremen has send Nigeria international Joseph Akpala on loan to Turkish club Kardemir Karabukspor for the  entire season.

  • Predicted Man Utd line-up (4-2-3-1) vs Crystal Palace, Evans starts
  • Mikel Arteta insists 27yo star won't be leaving Arsenal

  • The 27 year old moved to Weserstadion last summer but failed to make his way into the first team at the club. The Nigerian striker has been training with Reading this summer but his proposed move to the Madejski failed to materialize.

However, Werder general manager Thomas Eichin is hopeful that the out of form striker would come back with renewed confidence for the next season.

"Joseph Akpala has great skill, but so far he has not been able to break into our first team regularly," Eichin told Deutsche Presseagentur.

"Now, he will get the chance to play regular first-team football in the Turkish league. There, he can pick up the self-confidence every striker needs."
