Newcastle boss Pardew plans Cabaye talks

05 September 2013 - 16:01

Newcastle United manager Alan Pardew intends to hold talks with French midfielder Yohann Cabaye this week to get him back on track for the Magpies' Premier League fixtures ahead.

 • Fabrizio Romano updates on Nicolas Jackson's future at Chelsea
 • Arsenal suffer big injury blow ahead of Fulham game
 • The 27 year old midfielder was the subject of interest for Arsenal this summer and had an offer turned down by his club. Pardew has been desperate to hold on to him and with the Gunners' dropping their interest after having their initial bid rejected, Cabaye has to stay another season at the Tyneside club much to his dislike.
"It was important to get him out there on Saturday, it will make it easier to move on although there is a lot of talking to be done between now and Aston Villa," Pardew told reporters.
"We will speak with Yohan and with his representatives to make sure that we go forward hand-in-hand."
The Frenchman has been dropped from the national side for the weekend's world cup qualifiers and Pardew expressed disappointment at their decision to leave him out.
"The guy has a World Cup at the end of the year and he is a big part of France's plans. He hasn't been picked this week and I think that was a bit of a shock to him," added Pardew.
"It was only because of the [transfer] situation, because I think he's nailed on in their team. That whole situation will resolve itself."
