Daniel Sturridge to miss crucial Ukraine game

08 September 2013 - 10:30

Liverpool striker Daniel Sturridge will be missing the crucial World Cup qualifying match against the Ukraine. A win in the qualifier, held in Kiev, will put England's qualifying hopes right on track but they will need to do that without the in form Liverpool man.

  • Fabrizio Romano updates on Nicolas Jackson's future at Chelsea
  • Arsenal suffer big injury blow ahead of Fulham game
  • Whilst Danny Welbeck will also be missing alongside Arsenal starlet Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain; the missing Sturridge means that Southampton forward Rickie Lambert will take full responsibility for England's goalscoring efforts against the Ukraine.<br />

It has been announced that Sturridge will not recover in time for this weekend's game leaving England manager Roy Hodgson likely to start Lambert again with Jermain Defoe on the bench.
