Tottenham want to sign Cameroon international Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting in the January transfer window. The forward currently plays for Bundesliga side FC Mainz and is valued at around 6.5m EUR.

  • Chelsea expected to sell striker after loan deal
  • Arsenal defender misses training ahead of Man Utd game

  • With Spurs still desperate to sell striker Emmanuel Adebayor, Tottenham manager Andre Villas-Boas is looking for a new striker to play with Roberto Soldado and Jermain Defoe.

According to reports from Germany, Spurs scouts have been seen at recent Mainz games whilst Spurs' director of football Franco Baldini is due to personally check up on the 24-year-old sometime this month.

The 6 foot 2 striker has played for Mainz since 2011, back when he completed a transfer from German rivals Hamburg. Choupo-Moting has since gone on to play 19 games for the Cameroon national team, scoring 9 goals.
