'Martin Montoya could leave Barcelona next summer' says his agent

10 September 2013 - 14:46

Martin Montoya's agent Jose Maria Orobitg has insisted that his client could leave the La Liga champions Barcelona on a free transfer at the end of the season.

  • Chelsea defender on his way to Leeds United?
  • Chelsea ready to hand Nicolas Jackson fresh chance
  • The 22-year-old defender has been linked with a whole host of European clubs over the past few months, with Premier League outfit Arsenal, the latest to be associated with his services.<br /><br />Jose Maria Orobitg told Sky Italia : <em>"For the moment he is under contract with Barcelona until the end of the season. However, the contract extension has still not arrived.<br /><br />"We have talked but there is no certainty that Martin Montoya would hold down a first-team spot, because right now Daniel Alves closes the door. The transfer window is closed, but I can tell you that the contract extension may not be successful.<br /><br />"In the past, Inter Milan, Napoli, Bayer Leverkusen, Dortmund and Liverpool were interested. Anything could happen between now and June."</em>
