Shay Given eyes Aston Villa exit

13 October 2013 - 04:35

37-year-old goalkeeper Shay Given is planning a transfer move in the January transfer window. The Ireland international is frustrated with manager Paul Lambert who has so far yet to offer the Irishman any first team action.

  • Chelsea join Liverpool & Man Utd in race to sign 26yo
  • Barcelona identify Arsenal midfielder as key transfer target

  • Brad Guzan is the current Villa number 1 and Jed Steer has recently been promoted to second choice keeper at the club, leaving Given out of the running for first team minutes and looking for a new club.

"I am disappointed I am not involved but I still have three years left on my contract, and I know I am fortunate to have that security," said Given.

"There’s a lot of good lads out there who haven’t even got a club at the moment. I could still be sitting here this time next year, no change, or something might come up in January."
