Iago Aspas ready to quit Liverpool in January

13 October 2013 - 04:39

Spanish forward Iago Aspas has told reporters that he will look to quit Anfield in the January transfer window if he finds that he can play more regularly elsewhere. Aspas is hopeful that a transfer to another club can boost his chances of a World Cup squad place with Spain.

  • Aspas had started some of the early season games for Liverpool in the absence of star striker Luis Suarez, who was then serving a suspension. However, Suarez has since returned to action and has picked up where he left off, in goalscoring form. The Uruguayan striker has also forged a successful relationship with England international Daniel Sturridge.

Aspas has now hinted that he could look for a transfer elsewhere, with Spanish club Valencia among the teams linked with a move for the former Celta Vigo man.

"I’m finding it hard to be a sub at Liverpool having started games over the past few years. When I left Celta Vigo I was aware that to start for Liverpool wasn’t going to be easy. Now it’s difficult to get in the Spain team because I’m playing less," said Aspas.
