Arsenal goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny has signed a new contract at the club. The Polish goalkeeper had been expected to sign a new contract for some time but has finally come to an agreement on a long term deal.

  • Arsenal leading race to sign Belgian midfielder

  • It is understood that, after months of negotiations with manager Arsene Wenger and the player's representatives, Szczesny has penned a five year deal at the Emirates.

After a rocky start to his career at the Gunners, Szczesny has cemented his place as the club's number one goalkeeper ahead of the Lukasz Fabianski and the recent new loan signing Emiliano Viviano.

Szczesny has been with the club since he was a youngster and the player will be delighted to have finally come to an agreement with Arsenal.

Arsene Wenger said of the new deal: “We’re very pleased Wojciech has signed a new long-term contract. I have always believed he is an extremely talented player, with excellent reflexes and good mental strength.

“He continues to grow and improve all the time too, so he has the potential to be even better. He can be an important part of Arsenal Football Club for many years to come.”
