Real Madrid's highly-rated striker Alvaro Morata has agreed to join Arsenal on a six-month loan deal, when the transfer window reopens in January, according to The Metro.

  • The talented 21-year-old forward rejected a temporary switch to North London rivals Spurs in favour of the Gunners, having been promised more first-team opportunities by manager Arsene Wenger.

Arsenal have had to accommodate French International Olivier Giroud for the striker's role since the start of the season, having seen Lukas Podolski suffer from a hamstring injury, and this has enforced manager Arsene Wenger in signing the talented Spanish youngster to provide sufficient competition up front.

Morata, who has scored two goals in 12 appearances for Los Blancos, is currently considered as a back-up to the first-team at the Bernabeu and has been allowed a temporary loan move to the North London outfit in an attempt to aid his development.
