Claudio Ranieri would be interested in signing Angel Di Maria, but doubts the Real Madrid attacker will join Monaco in the January transfer window.

  • Reports in Spain have claimed that Monaco are keen on a €35million (£29.3m) deal for Di Maria, who has also been linked with Arsenal, Manchester City and Manchester United.

Di Maria whose contract runs until 2018 was preferred to Mesut Ozil  by Carlo Ancelotti in the summer.

However, Ranieri does not expect the Argentinian winger to make a high profile switch to the club this new year having shown confidence by the Real Madrid Manager and dismissed the rumours.

This situation has risen since the $60 million Colombian star Radamel Falcao, who was the marquee summer signing for the French club, is said to be unsettled at the club. Claudio Ranieri who is in charge of Monaco has come under pressure to perform as much as that has been spent and will continue to look for potential additions to a squad that sits second behind champions Paris St. Germain.
