Southampton are readying a January transfer offer to sign Juventus striker Fabio Quagliarella, according to Tuttosport.
The 30-year-old has failed to play a major role under manager Antonio Conte, and is expected to leave the club during the upcoming transfer window.
Quagliarella has started in just three league matches for the Italian champions, having fallen down the pecking order, following the arrival of Carlos Tevez and Fernando Llorente during the summer.
The Saints boss Mauricio Pochettino is eyeing a move for Quagliarella as the club aim to challenge the top teams for a European qualification spot next season.
Swansea City and MLS side New York Red Bulls are also monitoring the player.
