Chelsea eye Luka Modric

18 November 2007 - 18:33

Arsenal's midfield target Luka Modric could be set to shun a switch to the Gunners and join their rivals Chelsea after Roman Abramovich was spotted with Dinamo Zagreb vice president Zdravko Mamic. Modric is considered one of the best talents in Croatia.

  • Fabrizio Romano updates on Nicolas Jackson's future at Chelsea
  • Arsenal suffer big injury blow ahead of Fulham game
  • Chelsea believe he can achieve for them what Elano has done for Manchester City as Abramovich tries to shake off the 'boring Chelsea' tag gained under Jose Mourinho.

Arsene Wenger has monitored Modric for a year but Dinamo refused to sell the midfielder during the summer.

A member of Dinamo's management committee, Tomislav Marcinko is quoted as saying in The Observer: “Abramovich is ready to pay for every one of Modric's kilos.”
