Manchester United defender Fabio could be on his way to Bundesliga club SC Freiburg on loan till the end of the season. The discussions are at an advance stage.
The 23 year old is the third choice behind Patrice Evra and Alex Buttner.
Freiburg on the other hand have had a poor season after they were knocked out of the Europa League and are currently 16th in the league, should they finish there come the end of the season they would have to play off against a promotion chasing side to avoid relegation.
The Brazilian's last performance for United saw him get sent off just four minutes after coming on in the FA cup third round match against Swansea City.
