Fabio Capello has extended his contract with Russia till the summer of 2018. The 67 year old took charge of the team in 2012.

  • The former Milan, Juventus and Real Madrid led the Russian team to the World Cup where they will be placed in group H with Belgium, Algeria and South Korea.

This is what he said on RFU’s official website on Friday,

“I am grateful to the President of the RFU and the Minister of Sports for Russia for their confidence in me,” he stated.

“I am very happy to continue working in Russia. We have big plans and I will do everything possible to make our fans happy.”

The deal means that the former England boss will be managing Russia in 2018 when they host the World Cup in their own backyard.
