Papiss Cisse: on his way to Turkey

Newcastle forward Papiss Cisse heading to Turkey?

Newcastle's out of favour forward Papiss Demba Cisse has been linked with a move to Turkey, with Turkish giants Galatasaray and Trabzonspor all ready to pay up to £7 million to sign the Senegalese finisher.

  • The 28-year-old has slipped down the pecking order this year under Alan Pardew since the arrival of Loic Remy and now looks set to move to Turkey. The impressive form of Remy has kept Cisse largely reduced to substitute roles during The Toon Army's games this season.

Trabzonspor had almost completed a deal to sign Demba Ba from Chelsea but that fell through after an injury to Fernando Torres meant Jose Mourinho would give more responsibilities to Ba. Instead, they will now switch their attentions to Cisse's former team mate at Newcastle, Cisse.

The striker has only managed 1 goal in 15 games in the league so far this season.
