Brum want boss quickly

Brum want boss quickly

24 November 2007 - 15:00

Birmingham have admitted they are looking to hire a new boss as quickly as possible. Steve Bruce moved to Wigan, as he swapped St Andrew's for the JJB Stadium on Friday afternoon following a hitch in his return to Wigan.

  • Chelsea to move for former Arsenal goalkeeper?
  • Former Chelsea boss to replace Erik ten Hag at Man Utd?

  • Bruce had been expected to be unveiled as the Latics boss for the second time in his career on Wednesday only for the confirmation to be delayed over an issue surrounding payment for image rights.

However, he has now moved on and the Blues are confident of appointing a new manager before the end of the month.

"The board would like to take this opportunity to thank Steve for everything he has done whilst in charge at Birmingham City," read a club statement.

"He joined nearly six years ago and during that time the club has moved on and improved under his guidance.

"Birmingham City's board has appointed just three managers in the past 14-and-half years.

"Each of those managers made improvements on their predecessor and took the club forward.

"The board will appoint a new manager within the next week and is looking forward to working with someone who can have an equally positive impact."
