  • On July 16, 2007, it was rumoured that Newcastle United are considering making a a bid of €11,000,000 in attempt to sign Barzagli, however this speculation was later played down by manager Sam Allardyce who stated he was looking for defenders with “premier league experience”.

Juande Ramos is expected to have to pay up to £8m to get the Italian to join Tottenham from Palermo. Barzagli is considered one of the best defenders in Italy, and Juventus, Milan and Inter Milan will all be monitoring the situation closely in January.
