Connor Wickham completes Leeds loan move

27 February 2014 - 08:12

Sunderland have allowed young striker Connor Wickham to move on loan to Leeds United until the end of the season. The 20-year-old had been linked with a host of other teams but has opted for a short term deal to move to Elland Road.

  • The striker will offer competition for first choice striker Ross McCormack at Elland Road and follows Jack Butland, who arrived on loan from Stoke City. Connor Wickham has long been praised as one of England's brightest young prospects but has so far failed to force his way into Gus Poyet's Sunderland first team.

Wickham has spent two spells on loan at Sheffield Wednesday and the Owls had hoped to secure a permanent move for the striker.
