Gunners to agree new contract with Mikel Arteta?

24 March 2014 - 06:02

Arsene Wenger is hopeful that the Gunners can wrap up a new contract with Spanish midfielder Mikel Arteta. The former Everton holding midfielder joined the club in 2011 and would follow the news of Czech Republic international Tomas Rosicky putting pen to paper on a fresh deal at the London club.

  • Arsene Wenger has been moving swiftly to ensure that his best talent is tied down to long term contracts. Just last week, Per Mertesacker signed a new contract after an excellent season partnering Frenchman Laurent Koscielny at the heart of the Gunners' back line, whilst Aaron Ramsey also recently extended his contract until 2019 after an imperious start to the season.

The Reds were desperate to sign up Tomas Rosicky to a new contract after several inspired performances at the centre of Arsenal's midfield and the player's recent contributions to the side have earned him a year's extension to his contract. Being one of Arsenal's best passers of the ball, and since he is having one of his best seasons yet since his move to London from Borussia Dortmund; Rosicky's new deal has been well earned.

Mikel Arteta is set to have an extra year added to his current deal that is due to expire in 2015, thus keeping the Spaniard at the Emirates Stadium until 2016.
