Newcastle United are reportedly preparing a summer bid for the services of Swansez City midfielder Jonjo Shelvey, according to The Mirror.
Shelvey, who joined the Swans from Liverpool last summer, is believed to have attracted interest from the Magpies.
The 22-year-old has had a steady season with the Welsh outfit, and has showed glimpses of his extraordinary skill, including his wonder goal from the centre circle against Aston Villa last weekend.
The Mirror claims that manager Alan Pardew wants the England international to replace Yohan Cabaye, who left the club during the winter transfer window.
Shelvey has notched up six goals in 40 appearances for the Swans in all competitions this season.
