Atletico Madrid striker David Villa is currently being tracked by Southampton, as they view him to be a potential replacement for Italian international Pablo Osvaldo this summer.
According to Fichajes.net, the Saints are set to allow the sale of Osvaldo in the summer, following his discouraging behaviour at the South Coast club in the first half of the season.
Villa, 32, is believed to be considering his options for the next campaign, having yet to be offered an extension to his one-year deal at the Vicente Calderon.
A move to the South Coast club may not be the best in the reckoning for the former Barca star, but the rise of the Saints under Mauricio Pochettino this season could well tempt him and other big names into joining St.Mary's this summer.
