32-year-old forward Rickie Lambert looks set to make a move away from Southampton and join Liverpool. Brendan Rodgers' transfer plans are already well under way and the Saints are believed to have accepted a bid for the striker.

The burly forward is expected to play an important role in England's World Cup squad this summer, with Lambert set to make a move from the Saints to a bigger club.

Liverpool ironically spent time with the Premier League's youth team when he was a youngster.

"I think Rickie is a terrific player," Liverpool manager Rodgers said of Lambert last season. "People look back now and say it was a mistake to let him go but there may have been something that was a factor."
